The NAU library would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2024 Cybersecurity Awareness Month Celebration Event a wonderful success. The event was held at the library from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The event educated attendees on the significance of cybersecurity and provided guidance on identifying potential threats and implementing effective responses. As we further enter the digital age, this information becomes increasingly valuable.
The whole atmosphere of the event revolved around cybersecurity techniques for personal protection, as shown on the library display panels. Videos from America’s Cyber Defense Agency gave the event attendees some very effective advice. One of the highlights of the program was a presentation by Adam Kakhadze from the NAU IT team, offering insightful analysis of cyber threat protection and safeguards.
Thereafter, students competed in a cybersecurity trivia game. There were seventeen participants in this game, and the top three winners received gift cards as prizes. Congratulations to the winners! For first place, Samat Kerimkulov (Freshman, CS department); for second Place, Taha Sirikligil (Freshman, CS department); and for third Place, Emirkhan Usonov (Freshman, CS department).
Participants also had the chance to compete in a timed cybersecurity word search to win a gift card. At the end of the event, each participant participated in a raffle drawing, and four of them won a USB data blocker, which offers protection against juice jacking.
Participants left the library with cyber security activities to do at home. Eleven of the seventeen attendees left feedback for the event, with ten of them having smiley faces.
