NAU Speech & Debate Team Secures Top Honors at Rice University and Texas State Tournaments

The North American University (NAU) Speech & Debate Team delivered a standout performance at the Rice University Classic Speech Tournament on Saturday, October 3, 2026, earning multiple top placement awards against competitive collegiate fields.

Demonstrating strong artistic interpretation and public speaking skills, NAU team members captured awards in three major categories:

2nd Place: Duo Dramatic Interpretation
4th Place: Dramatic Interpretation
5th Place: Poetry

This impressive showing builds upon the team’s momentum from earlier in the fall semester. On the weekend of September 19, 2026, the NAU Speech & Debate Team competed at Texas State University, bringing home finalist honors in both Dramatic Interpretation and Duo Dramatic Interpretation.

The dedication, eloquence, and competitive spirit displayed by the students Owen Aminiel, Craig Jenkins, Fabio Nhampossa, and Hojaahment Sahetmyradov, highlight the strong commitment to excellence found across all NAU student organizations. The university community extends its congratulations to all competing members and coaches for representing NAU with distinction.
